We welcome pitches that help readers understand how a news story is presented, sourced or placed in context. Strong contributions explain one clear idea, use a distinct example and leave readers with a question or method they can apply themselves.
What to pitch
Propose an original, focused piece about headlines, attribution, sources, context, news formats or reading habits. A useful pitch names its main point, explains why it matters to a general reader and sketches the steps the article will take.
What makes a strong contribution
Use plain language, distinguish fact from interpretation and support factual claims with sources readers can check. Avoid recycled commentary, sweeping claims and advice that asks readers to accept a conclusion without showing how it follows.
Sending a proposal
Send proposals through the Contact page. Include a working title, a short summary, the proposed category and a brief note about relevant experience or published work if you wish. Please send a pitch rather than an unsolicited full draft.
